Found in northern Peru at elevations around 2000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-obovate, subacute, gradually narrowing below into the channeled petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a stout, erect, triquetrous, 10.8 to 12.8" [27 to 32 cm] long, congested, successively flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract at the base and with ribbed, imbricating, conduplicate floral bract.
