Common Name The Small Tubed Masdevallia

Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia as well as Venezuela in cloud forests at 1100 to 2500 meters as a miniature to small sized, tufted, cool to cold growing, epiphytic species with blackish, erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying an erect, single, apical, oblanceolate, petiolate, coriaceous, obtuse leaf gradually narrowing below into a petiole and blooms in the fall on a solitary flower per erect to arcuate, slender, 3 1/5" [8 cm] long, inflorescence arisng from low on the ramicaul with a bract below the middle and a tubular floral bract that is held just above or amid the leaf tips.
