Common Name Cogniaux' Maxillaria [Belgian Botanist in Brazil late 1800's early 1900's]

Found in Rio de Janiero, Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo and Parana' States of Brazil in primary forests at elevations up to 1400 meters as a warm to cool growing epiphtye with cylindrical, light greenslightly ridged speudobulbs carrying 2, apical, dark green, narrowly linear-lanceolate, deeply keeled leaves that blooms in the fall on a short single flowered inflorescence arising on a newly matured pseudobulb and holding the flower against the pseudobulb.
