Found in New Zealand in mostlyy montane to sub-alpine forests, but also to sea-level on the South Island in damp hollows in tussock, grasslands, alpine meadows, and turfy lake shores as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect stem arising from a single tubular, dark green leaf that blooms in the late spring and summer on an erect, 1 to 10 flowered inflorescence
