Common Name Regnell's Miltonia [Brazilian Orchid Collector 1800's]
Flower Size 2 to 3" [5 to 7.5 cm]
This medium sized, cool to hot growing epiphytic species is found in eastern Brazil at elevations 300 to 800 meters in wet montane forests with ovate-oblong, compressed, pale yellow green pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, linear-ligulate, acute leaves and can be mounted or potted with cool to hot, semi-shaded conditions. They appreciate ample water while growing and a drier winter rest after flowering on a racemose, to 16" [40 cm] long, axillary from the base of the pseudobulb, erect or arching, 3 to 5 flowered inflorescence with successively opening, flat flowers that appear in the spring and summer. This is a pink cultivar but it comes in a whiter form as well.
