Found in Mexico and Guatemala on fallen trees and stumps in lower montane forests at elevations of 600 to 1450 meters as a medium szied, hot to warm growing epiphtye with ovoid-fusiform to cylindrical-fusiform pseudobulbs carrying 8 to 14, deep green above, glaucous below, articulated to the leaf bearing sheaths below leaves that blooms in the summer to early fall on an erect, basal, arcuate, 16 to 28" [40 to 70 cm] long, 4 to16 flowered inflorescence with 4 to 5 subacute bracts and triangular to triangular-ovate, acute, scarious floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers.
