Common Name Ford's Nervilia - In China Mao Chun Yu Lan

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in southern China, Thailand and Vietnam in damp shady locations in deep forests at elevations around 200 to 1000 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial orchid with a whitish, globose tuber giving rise to a stalk like, petiolate base leaf that is pale green on both surfaces, cordate-ovate, membraneous, glabrous, about 20 veined, margin undulate and acute that blooms in the later spring on an erect, 5.2 to 12" [13 to 30 cm] long, 3 to 5 flowered inflorescence with 3 to 6 tubular sheaths and reflexed, linear, slightly exceeding the ovary floral bracts.
