Found in Benin, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria, Guinea, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Zaire, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius in grasslands, deciduous forests, plantaions and coastal forests at elevations of sea level to 1500 meters as a miniature sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem without the prostrate leaf at anthesis that blooms in the spring on an erect, single flowered inflorescence
