Found in Rio de Janiero Brazil in open primary forests as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphtye with stiff, green, noded stems carrying a single, apical, subulate, light green becoming dark purple leaf that blooms in the winter on a short, single flowered inflorescence

Part of the SECTION Planifolia O pusilla alliance with O concolor, O cordilabia, O pusilla, O sagittata, O micrantha and O warmingii. Plants in this alliance are less than 4” [10 cm] tall and have thin ramicauls and lanceolate to oblong-elliptic leaves.
