Common Name The Golden Oncidium
Flower Size 1.25" [3 cm]
Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations around 2500 to 2950 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with ovate, laterally compressed, ancipitous pseudobulbs basally enveloped partially by several variable sized, disitchous, imbricating, lower leafless and upper leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 2, apical, broadly lanceolate, acute, taperig below into an elongate conduplicate, narrow, petiole-like base leaves that blooms on a basal, to 8" [to 20cm] long, erect, arching, many flowered racemose inflorescence that may have a 1 to 2, short basal branches and arises from the axil of an upper leaf bearing sheath and carry many [25] showy, star-shaped, fragrant flowers that can arise in situ at any time of the year.
