Found in Antioquia, Colombia in cloud forests at elevations of 2000 to 2500 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing orchid with clustered, ovate, laterally compressed, ancipitous, longitudinally grooved pseudobulbs that taper apically and basally are partially enveloped by several distichous, imbricating leaf-bearing sheaths carrying 2, erect, linear, acute leaves that are conduplicate below into the long, narrow, petiolate base that blooms on an erect to arching, axillary, 15" [38 cm] long, to 7 flowered inflorescence arisng on a recently matured pseudobulb
