Common Name or Meaning Bateman's Oncidium [English botaniust and Orchid enthusiast 1800's]

Found in Brazil, Bolivia and Peru on grassy slopes, in gnarled vestigal forests amongst boulders and humus at elevations of 1200 to 2600 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with clustered, ovoid to subconical, slighly laterally compressed, rugose with age pseudobulbs carrying 2, light green, narrowly linear-lanceolate, acute, deeply keeled, leaves that blooms at most any time of the year on a basal, 36 to 48" [91 to 122 cm] long, paniculate inflorescence that is sparsely branched towards the apex carrying many, successively opening flowers.
