Common Name Bauer's Oncidium [Austrian Botanic Painter 1800's]

Flower Size to 1" [to 2.5 cm]

Found from the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, the Windwards Islands, Costa Rica, Colombia , Venezuela, Fr Guinea, Guyana, Surinam, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in tropical, wet montane forests at sealevel to 1300 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing, massive, caespitose epiphyte with oval, multi ridged, sulcate with time psuedobulbs subtended by several leaf-bearing sheaths with 2 to 3 apical, linear, acuminate leaves blooming with an erect to pendulous, 5 to 10' [1.4 to 2.5 meters] long, multi-flowered [7 to 20], many branched panicle with lanceolate, acuminate, papery, persistent, conspicuous floral bracts arising on a mature pseudobulb with 7 flowers to each branch all occuring in the spring.
