Common Name The Cross-Shaped Oncidium

Found in Rio de Janiero, Minas Gerais, Espiritu Santo, Bahia and Parana State, Brazil in shady, humid cool mountain locations at elevations of 900 to 1000 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with clustered, terete psueudobulbs partially enveloped basally by 2, acute leafless sheaths and carrying 1 or 2, apical leaves that blooms on a branched, 12" [30 cm] long, many [40] flowered inflorescence arising in the spring. Often cited as a synonym of Oncidium fimbriatum Lindley non Hoffmansegg which is often erroneously sited as a synonym of Oncidium ciliatum.
