Found in Mexico and El Salvador as an epiphyte at altitudes of 1200 to 1500 meters with pear-shaped, deep longitudinal ridges and grooves, slightly laterally compressed pseudobulbs partially enveloped basally by several pairs of imbricate, leafless and leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 2 to 3, apical, linear to strap-shaped, acute, longly conduplicate below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on 1 or 2, axillary, erect to arching, to 24" [to 60 cm] long, paniculate, several to many flowered inflorescence arising on a newly matured pseudobulb with 1 to 3 flowers on each branch .
