Common Name The Painted Oncidium
Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]
Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador? and Peru? in premontane and montane forests at elevations of 1000 to 2150 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with ovate, shiny, compressed, ancipitous pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, oblong-lanceolate, conduplicate below in to the base leaves that blooms in the spring on a paniculate, 15 to 20 branched, short and spreading each with 3 to 7 flowers, ascending to erect to arcuate, 24" to 5' 4" [60 to 160 cm] long inflorescence arising through the axils of a inner leaf sheath and carries fragrant flower scented with honey.
