Found in Sucumbios province of Ecuador and Loretto department of Peru in inundated forests where it is under eater for several months at a time at elevations around 220 meters as a medium to large sized, hot growing terrestrial with a monopodial, erect stem enveloped below by imbricating, lowermost leafless, upper leaf bearing sheaths carrying plicate, broadly elliptic-ovate, acute leaves that blooms on a terminal, arching, 2" [5 cm] long, provided with imbricating bracts, several flowered inflorescence.
