Found in Venezuela, Guyana, Fr Guiana, Trinidad & Tobago and northern Brazil in rainforests at elevations of 100 ot 700 meters as a medium to giant sized, hot growing terrestrial with an erect, terete, elongate, mostly non-branching stem enveloped by tubular to somewhat inflated sheaths and carrying several, plicate, convolute, spiral to subdistichous, suberect, horizontal to arching spreading, linear-elliptic to broadly elliptic to broadly ovate-elliptic, obtuse to shortly acuminate, susessile to conspicuously petiolate base leaves that blooms on often several, both terminal or lateral, terete, racmose to rarely branched, always shorter than the leaves, serveral to many flowered inflorescence with several to many, loose, scarious to subfoliaceous bracts
