Common Name The Bougainville Paphiopedilum [A Solomon Island]
Found on Bougainville Island in very wet montane forests at elevations of 1200 to 1850 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte on trees with their roots in leaf humus or thick moss carrying 6 to 7, narrowly elliptic, pale green tessaleted darker leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, pale green, to 9 3/4" [23 cm] long, purple haired inflorescence withan elliptic floral bract that gives rise to a single flower.
