Common Name Henry's Paphiopedilum [Irish Plant Collector in China]

Flower Size 1 3/5" to 2 1/2" [4 to 6 cm]

A recently discovered species [1987] that occurs around the China and northern Vietnamese borders at 610 to 1400 meters in elevation as a rare, smaller sized, lithophyte in semi-deciduous, broadleafed, mixed and coniferous, mossy, open forests on steep highly eroded limestone cliffs with 3 to 6 distichous, lanceolate or linear-ligulate, obtuse, unequally bilobulbate or minutely tridenticulate apically, glossy dark green above, paler green below leaves that is sharply keeled beneath that blooms on a single flowered, erect, 4 3/4 to 6" [12 to 15 cm] long, green to purple brown pubescent, terminal inflorescence occuring in the fall and winter.
