Common Name Spicer's Paphiopedilum [English Officer in India 1800's]

This smaller sized, terrrestrial or sometimes lithophytic species has 5 oblong, clear, dull green leaves that are mottled purple below and is from the Assam region of India, the eastern Himalayas, Bhutan and Myanamar as well as Yunnan China at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters and is a small sized, cold to warm growing plant that flowers from autumn till winter with an erect, multiflowered, sequential blooming, slender, purple 9 to 16" [20 to 40 cm] long, inflorescence with ovate, acute bracts and needs shade with no winter rest.
