Common Name The Shimmering Purple Paphiopedilum

Flower Size 2 2/5 to 2 3/4" [6 to 7 cm]

Found in New Guinea as a medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial at elevations of 200 to 1200 meters with up to 6, erect or spreading, oblong-lanceolate, dark green, tessellated with grey green, unequally and minutely tricuspidate apically leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on an erect, terminal, dark brown to black, to 12" [30 cm] long, pubescent, single flowered inflorescence with a greenish-brown, pubescent floral bract.
