Common Name or Meaning Maingay's Peristylus [Surgeon and Orchid Enthusiast]

Flower Size .2 to .25" [.6 to .7 cm]

Found in Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sulawesi, Sumatra, New Guinea and Queensland Australia at elevations of 50 to 400 meters in shady rainforests or in open grasslands and on swampy ground as a small to medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with 2 to 3 basal, broad, horizontally spreading, oblong, acute, prostrate leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, 5 to 18" [12.5 to 45 cm] long, laxly 8 to 15 flowered inflorescence with spirally arranged flowers.
