Found in the western Himalayas, Eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Myanamar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam on rock faces and on cliff edges in hot mixed forests at elevations of 1000 to 2300 meters as a miniature to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with slender to swollen pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong to linear-oblong, acute to acuminate, plicate, petiolate leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a synanthous, densely many flowered, narrowly wiry, 4" to 12" [10 to 30 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with avate-sagittate, acute to obtuse, pubescent floral bracts and carrying fragrant membraneous flowers
