Found in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Islands, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Minnesota, Wisconson, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsyvania, New York, New Jersey, Conneticutt, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in drier mixed, coniferous forests as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with 2, opposite, basal, rounded, , green leaves that blooms in the late spring on an erect, to 16" [40 cm] long, laxly to densely, to 50 flowered inflorescence.
