A medium sized, cold to cool growing terrestrial from Canada, Alaska and the northern US growing deep woods, swamps, in acid soil at altitudes around 450 meters, with 2 subopposite, broadly rounded leaves spread flat on the ground blooms on a terminal, erect, 1 to 2 1/2' [30 to 75 cm] long, many flowered, racemose inflorescence with fragrant flowers occuring in the summer and has the common name of Heal All.
