Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 2200 to 2800 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a stout erect ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 close, tubular, evanescent sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, spreading, ovate to oblong-ovate, acute, rounded to subcordate basally leaf that blooms in the spring and fall on 1 to 5, erect to arching th pendant, subcongesteed, distichous, simultaneously many flowered, racemose, 7.2" to 12" [18 to 30 cm] long inflorescence arising through a spathe at the leaf base and has tubular floral bracts.
CAUTION Use caution with this one I cannot be sure of the veracity of this determination although it does match Luer's drawings
