Common Name The Becoming Red Pleurothallis [refers to the dried flowers]

Found in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil in wet montane forests at elevations of 600 to 2750 meters as a miniature sized, hot to cool growing, miniature, caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 1 to 3 large, complanate, scarious bracts carrying a single, apical, oblong-elliptic, subacute, blunt, coriaceous leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect to arching, 4 3/8" [11 cm] long, simultaneously opening, several flowered, racemose inflorescence with several close, tubular bracts and ovate, acute, subinfundibuliform floral bracts that cover 1/2 of the ovary. Separated from opther species by the labellum with subapical, transverse ridges of blunt teeth and a very elongate, beaked clinadrial hood.
