Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia at elevations around 1200 to 2300 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with slender to stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, slightly acuminate, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the late winter through summer on 1 to 4, distichous, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long, subdensely, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe at the base of the leaf and has tubular floral bracts.
