Found in Santa Cruz Bolivia at elevations of 1900 to 2500 meters as a repent, mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing lithophyte with a stout rhizome adpressed to the substrate giving rise to a prostrate, thickly coriaceous, smooth, suffused with dark purple, broadly elliptical, narrowing below into the subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and summer on a successively single flowered inflorescence
