Found in Ecuador on the eastern slopes of the Andes in dense and very wet forests most often on trunks at elevations of 1500 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with an elliptic, plicate, petiolate leaf that blooms in the late spring through summer on a basal, pendant, densely brown hispid, 7.2 to 14" [18 to 35 cm] long, 7 to 20 flowered inflroescence with 4 to 5 papery, ovate-elliptic, acute bracts.
