Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in veryu wet montane forests at elevations of 600 to 1200 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm growing epiphyte or terrestrial on steep banks with pyriform-cylindric pseudobulbs enveloped by evanescent sheaths and carrying a single, apical, plicate, elliptic, acute, cuneate below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring through fall on a basal, pendant to arcuate, densely short-pubescent, to 18" [45 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with 3 to 4 loose sheaths
