Found in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Madagascar in marshes, humid woods and clearings at elevations up to 1050 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with 2, oblong-cylindrical, tubers giving rise to 6 to 7, cauline, distant, attenuate-acute, narrow leaves that blooms in the summer and early fall on a bright orange, .4 to 2.2" [1 to 5.5 cm] long, very loosely 4 to 7 flowered inflorescence.
