Found in Myanamar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Hainan China on open rocks and bluffs at elevations of 100 to 1200 meters as a giant sized, hot to warm growing monopodial lithophyte in full sun or epiphyte in primary forests with a simple to branched, elongate, stout stem carrying many 2 ranked, thick, fleshy, oblong to shortly lorate leaves that blooms in the spring on an axillary, lateral, paniculate, 2 to 3' [60 to 90 cm] long, divaricate, laxly several to many flowered inflorescence.
