Common Name Edefeldt's Renanthera

Flower Size 3/4" [20 mm]

This monopodial, showy, large to giant sized, hot growing epiphytic or lithophytic orchid from Irian Jaya to PNG and the Solomon Islands from sealevel to 600 meters in exposed sunny locations high in trees or on cliffs or rock faces with an elongate, straggling stem carrying in the apical portion, alternate, oblong, unequally roundly and bilobed apically, articulated to the leaf bearing sheath leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an axillary, lateral, 12 to 24" [30 to 60 cm] long, simple or branched, each branch laxly 10 to 20 flowered, many flowered inflorescence that has small bracts and successively opening, showy flowers.
