Found in Thailand and Sabah, Borneo in swamp forest, coastal forests on peat soils to calcareous coastal sands at elevations below 50 meters and needs a lot of light to bloom as a giant sized, hot growing terrestrial or epiphyte climbing to the tops of the stunted trees to get full sun. This species has a simple or occasionally branching stem carrying ligulat, unequally bilobed apicallly, coriaceous, articulated to the purple spotted sheath below that blooms on a many flowered, 2' [60 cm] long, 3 to 4 branched inflorescence with ovate, acute floral bracts.
