Common Name Forrest's Bulbophyllum - In China Jian Jiao Juan Ban Lan

Flower Size 1 1/4" [3 cm]

Found in southern Yunnan province of China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and India in montane forests at elevations around 2000 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing, unifoliate epiphyte with garlic clove-like pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, petiolate leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, 3 1/4" [8 cm] long, several flowered, umbellate inflorescence holding the flowers at mid-leaf.

This species and B hellenae are very similar but differ mostly in the erose dorsal sepal found in B hellenae and the entire margin dorsal sepal of B forrestii
