Common Name The Rough Peduncle Scaphosepalum
Flower Size 3/8" [1.5 cm]
Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela and Guyana at altitudes of 1300 to 3500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold, creeping epiphytic, terrestrial or lithiphytic herb in scrubby vegetation in full sun or shade from with erect, stout ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptic to obovate, sometimes suffused with purple, subacute to obtuse or rounded leaf thqat gradually narrows below into the stout, channeled petiole that blooms at any time of the year on a lateral, erect, racemose, fractiflex, warty, 6" [15 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence which is much longer than the leaves, has oblique floral bracts, with the flowers opening in succession.
