Found in Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil on steep banks with subxerophytic vegatation, near riversides, near waterfalls at elevations around 700 to 1400 meters as a large sized, hot growing terrestrial with narrowly lanceolate, long-acuminate, striate, plicate leaves that blooms on a terminal, short, successively flowered inflorescence with a few, fleshy, fragrant, short-lived flowers occuring in the summer and early fall.
