Common Name The Mantiqueira Sophronitis [A mountain range in Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais]

Flower Size 1 to 2" [2.5 to 5 cm]

Found in southeastern and southern Brazil on moss or lichen covered saplings in creek gulches and on ridge crests at elevations of 1200 to 1890 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with short, fat pseudobulbs and carrying oval and curved, reddish tinted on reverse leaves that blooms in the summer on a short, termninal, single flowered inflorescence.
