Common Name Marcal's Sophronitis [Brazilian Collector of species current]
Flower Size 2.26" [5.6cm]
Found in southeastern Bahia Brazil in the Atlantic rainforests at elevations of 200 to 300 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a single, coriaceous, lanceolate, dorsal side red leaf that bloos in the summer on a terminal, erect, short, 4 to 6, simultaneously flowered inflorescence
Within my framework this species would fit best within Laelia but till now it has not been described as such.
Synonyms Cattleya marcaliana (Campacci & Chiron) Van den Berg 2008; Dungsia marcaliana Campacci & Chiron 2002
