Found in New Guinea in grasslands, rocky hillsides, and in gullies from sealevel to 1200 meters in elevation as a medium to large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with globose pseudobulbs that lay on the soil surface carrying 4 to 5, plicate leaves and blooms on a basal, 40" [1 meter] long, many successively flowered inflorescence with about 6 flowers open at any one time and can occur at most any time of the year.
