Common Name Lietze's Stanhopea [German Orchid Collector 1800's]

A medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte from the southeast Atlantic Forest of Brazil in the states of Minas Gerais, Espiritu Santo, Sao Paulo, Parana' and Santa Catarina at elevations of 100 to 800 meters in very humid and shady locations with a distinct dry season in the winter that blooms in the spring in Brazil on a pendant, racemose, few to several flowered inflorescence with large, chartaceous bracts.
