Found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil in low to high elevation, wet montane foersts at elevations of 70 to 1800 meters as a miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with robust ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 scarious, tight sheaths and carrying a single apical, erect, subcoriaceous, linear-lanceolate, gradually narrows below into the conduplicate, sulcate petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and spring through an annulus with an erect, to 4 1/5" [11 cm] long, many [30] flowered inflorescence with tight, tubular floral bracts.
