Found in Ecuador and Peru at elevations around 2300 to 2400 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical to oblong elliptic, obtuse to rounded, broadly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, subdensely, secund, 5.4" [13.5 cm] long including the peduncle, mostly simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with conspicuous, spreading, rotundate-ovate floral bracts with an auriculate clasping base.
