Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in montane forests on trees or moss covered rocks at elevations of 1200 to 3000 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with an erect ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 close, tubular sheaths an carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, linear oblong to elliptic oblong to linear-oblanceolate, obtuse to subacute, narrwoing below into the elongate petiolate base leaf that blooms on a solitary rarely 2, to 4.4" [11 cm] long, fractiflex, loosely many flowered inflorescence with infundibular-cucullate floral bracts
