Found in Trinidad and Tobago, French Guiana, Surinam, Venezuela, Peru, and Brazil in rain forests at elevations around 200 to 1500 meters as a miniature to just medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with erect to ascending ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 basal sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, oblong, oblong-elliptic, ovate-oblong to ovate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on 1 to 3, from near the base, 2 to 10" [5 top 25 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence
