Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia at elevations around 1800 to 3400 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by a close, tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect , coriaceous, elliptical-oblong, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring, summer and fall on 3 to 10, rarely to 20, erect, congested, distichous, .8 to 3.2" [2 to 8 cm] long without a peduncle, simultaneously several flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe from an annulus below the apex of the ramicaul with oblique, acute floral bracts.
