Common Name or Meaning The Broad-Leafed Telipogon
Flower Size 1 1/4"
Found in Venezuela, central Colombia and Ecuador in dense, damp, mossy, cold cloud forests on vines and small twigs but in locations that are sunny when there is some at elevations of 1800 to 2800 meters just to the north of Bogata' Cundinamarca and blooms in the summer through late fall in Colombia. The plant has a short stem that is branched basally and carries distichous, basally imbricating oblong-obovate, basally conduplicate leaves that blooms on a 2 to 3 flowered, fractiflex apically, inflorescence arising on a new growth that is three winged in cross-section and with conspicuous, lanceolate floral bracts. This species dies back after blooming and takes a rest until the next growth season, so do not throw out until you are certain that it is dead.
This one as well as most all the Telipogon are shaky determinations, I need better references so use with caution. If anything Tel bruchmuelleri [see references] is a correct determination, maybe the synomery is wrong.
