Found in Venezuela and Ecuador at elevations of 1500 to 1800 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a thin, single, apical, plicate, heavily veined, petiolate leaf with the petiole completely covered by a chartaceous sheath [this is a major defining point to the genus] that becomes fibrous with age and blooms on a basal, pendulous, single flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb.
